Porsche Cayman after machine polishing and Paint protection Film new car protection

This Porsche came in with around 700 miles on the clock, as the owner picked it up from a Porsche dealer further North.

Upon arrival it was moderately dirty, of course the wheels showing the most dirt, but wasn’t too bad and didn’t present any issues during preperation.

For the prep, we carried out our standard 2 bucket wash, with 0 TDS water made in house. This prevents watermarks and is used throughout the process on everything from shuts and trims, to wheels and when diluting chemicals.

This also included removal of the under-bonnet trim pieces to ensure everything can be fully cleaned to avoid contamination when installing the PPF. Where possible we remove all necessary rims to ensure the optimum installation.

After the wash, and chemical decontamination of the whole vehicle to remove iron and tar deposits, the Porsche was brought inside into our clean room to begin the Paint Protection Film installation process.

We installed SunTek Reaction Film, a 12 year self healing and hydrophobic film to the following areas, and wrapped all edges where possible for maximum protection -

Bonnet
Front Bumper
Front Wings
A Pillars
Mirrors
Sideskirts / Sills
Rear Arches

The patterns are cut in house on our Graphtec Plotter, using SunTek’s latest CORE software, and installed by Dan and Jay in house.

Once the PPF was done, and the car was moved out of our dedicated clean room and into the workshop, we began the rest of the detailing process, which included removing the wheels for further cleaning and ceramic coating (applied via air brush for best coverage) and giving the paint the necessary machine polishing work to ensure a flawless finish

Now with the wheels ceramic coated, re fitted and torqued to Porsche factory specifications, and the paint suitably polished (which took a couple of stages to remove the generally minor swirls), it was time to protect the paintwork. The customer opted for one of our highest levels of protection, Labocosmetica STC+HPC, which we install as Labocosmetica accredited detailers. This is a multi layer coating consisting of a physically protective base coat, and a chemically resistant top layer.

Once everything was coated (all un-filmed panels with STC+HPC, and the panels with PPF with just HPC applied) the final step was the interior. Obviously, being a new car the inside was basically “as new” and just needed a careful hoover and wipedown, alongside some fabric sealant applied. Especially with new cars we are very careful to use cleaners with minimal scent as to not affect that lovely “new car smell” we all love so much.

Once finished, the car was wheeled out into the sun for final checks and pictures before going back into the clean room for handover with the client who was very pleased with the finished results.

As per all of our details the owner drove away with do not wash hangers, to prevent any mistaken dealership washes which could undo hours of work on the paint, but also a care guide as to how best look after their coated and PPF’d car and booked in for our free post-installation check up after approximately 30 days which we do on any major film installation.

The finished product really does look how it should do from the factory and it was a joy to work on. If you would like this kind of treatment on your new (or used!) car please get in touch using the button below.
