bmw detailing m135i ceramic coating polishing

Although the finished product above looks very nice, it was a lot of work to get it there!

This BMW F20 M135i came in for a multi stage paint correction and ceramic coating. The main point of concern was the bonnet which was very faded and oxidised, although upon checking with our Paint Depth Gauge, showed normal paint thicknesses. Usually, OEM paint doesn’t oxidise like this!

It almost looked like DA sanding marks but it was very inconsistent so we’re not exactly sure of the root cause..

So beginning with our standard wash and decon process (all done using 0 TDS water for zero watermarks), chemical decontamination of iron and tar followed by a clay bar treatment to leave the paint perfectly smooth. The engine bay was cleaned, all the shuts, fuel cap, trims and other edges were given a deep clean as well, we move into the machine polishing.

Swirl Marks removed.

Being a typical BMW with hard paint, we needed to do 2 cutting passes with our favourite polish (CarPro) and a refining step to achieve the required finish, the sort of markings you see here were typical across the whole car.

Remember the “Before” picture, a little further up? Well - here is the after!

After all of the hardwork in the polishing was done , all traces of polishing dust was removed and a Infinity Wax Synergy PREP wipedown had been completed it was time to apply some protection, we went for Infinity Wax Synergy 3 which is Infinity Wax’s 3 year ceramic coating, which is available only to accredited IW installers. On Track Detailing are proud to be working with Infinity Wax.

The finished product!

After finishing off by applying a 3 month glass sealant and giving the interior our basic anti-bacterial valet and dressing the tyres etc, the car was wheeled out into the sun for the final pictures.
