McLaren 570 GT MSO Detail and Paint Protection Film
This beautiful McLaren 570 GT is a “MSO Black Collection” - Which makes it 1 of 100 World wide. The mighty McLaren already comes with an impressive 3.8L Twin Turbocharged V8 with over 560 HP, this is further bolstered by McLarens Titanium Exhaust, which sounds absolutely amazing.
We have an episode on our YouTube Channel taking you through the process, but if you’d rather see some pictures and read some text, I explain more below.
Like most Sports and Supercars, this 570 GT had low mileage of just over 10,000, but already had suffered a few stone chips to the front end and the owner wanted the whole vehicle looking fresh and protected. We built a bespoke package covering the front and sides of the vehicle with PPF (Paint Protection Film) - Also known as a “Track pack” and giving the rest of the car our Multi-stage paint correction and 2 Layer ceramic coating.
Our standard prep for this type of service includes all trims and shuts fully cleaned, a wash and decontamination of the paintwork using iron and tar removers, as well as any left over contamination removed using a clay bar. This is to ensure the vehicle surface is perfectly ready for the application of the PPF.
Unfortunately as mentioned the car already had some stonechips to the bonnet and front wings which needed touch up and flatting and polishing to reduce the appearance. Some may be worried about sanding the paint on a car as valuable as this, but we have plenty of experience doing these types of repairs safely. Below is the bonnet after touch up and sanding but before the polishing to remove the sanding marks.
Finally we can get onto the application of the Paint Protection Film which we are using PROFILM Regen, which is a 7 Year Warranted film, the benefit of this is that it is Instant Healing at ambient temperatures, without the need for additional heat. Everything is plotted in house using ProCut V2 (ProFilms Pattern Software) and our Graphtec FC9000 Plotter. (We do also have ProFilm 12 Year UCP12 available as well as stealth, and colour changing finishes available!)
Once the film work is completed we move onto the rest of the car which was in a very sorry state overall. The owner reported it was detailed by the supplying dealer approximately 2 years prior but there were sanding marks from the factory paint job all over the car as well as heavy swirls so it appears these areas had been missed.
We carried out our Multi Stage machine Correction which is typically over 3-4 stages to get the paint as close to perfect as possible with a target of 90-95%+ of the swirl marks removed. Once done we refined the whole car to ensure that it was completely hologram free and had the best gloss, and gave this supercar its final wipe down with our Panel Prep solution to ensure no remaining polishing oils present.
To protect the paintwork a 2 Layer Ceramic Coating was used (Gtechniq CSL and EXO V5) to ensure a durable easy to maintain finish which stays cleaner for longer.
The benefit of ceramic coating is a layer of chemical protection helping to keep dirt off your paint and make it easier to clean which reduces the likelihood of creating swirl marks in the future. Of course, a good maintenance plan is required with 2 Bucket wash, Pre-rinse/ Snow Foam and so on.
The finished product looks absolutely amazing and is well protected with all the key high-impact areas covered with the Instant Healing ProFIlm PPF, and the remainder of the car polished to perfection and protected with a durable Gtechniq Ceramic Coating. The McLaren is now ready for summer and to be enjoyed by its lucky owner.
